Olympics and other thoughts
Craig is at basketball right now and the kids are all in bed. It's so quiet and peaceful. I love Craig and the kids, but when it's this quiet I feel so peaceful. Bed time is my favorite time of day. I know some moms may think that's awful to say because that means the kids are no longer around, but I really enjoy my peace and quiet. Some days I count down the hours until bed time! Does that make me a mean mom? I'm going to say NO! :) I've even heard people say that someday I will miss the noise. Again, I doubt it. I don't like noise I am going to go ahead and say I don't let the kids get too noisy and out of control. I know it may sound mean, but I've always likes it quiet. I have gotten better with the kids though. I know sometimes they need to be a little crazy and silly but I can only handle it for so long. Sometimes I wonder if I'm limiting their fun and not letting them be kids. So many questions about what I may be doing wrong as a parent! It will be good to go away for a little bit and have a break from the kids. Sometimes it's nice to not have to worry about them. Where they are, what they're getting into. I won't be hearing any screaming or crying or fighting!! Woohoo :)
I gotta go now. I'm trying to type and watch the Olympics and it's just not happening.
That's all for now.

Glad It's Monday?
We've had some nasty weather lately. The trees have a nice coat of ice on them. But today the sun is out and it looks beautiful. The kids were amazed at how pretty it looked too when I took them to school. Lauren said it best when she said "they are sparkly" and that the grass had "sprinkles" on it.
Saturday night Craig had a bowl of cereal and Adam wanted some of course. When they finished it off Adam wanted more, so he took the bowl from Craig and went upstairs. About 30 seconds later we told Cooper to see what Chunkers was up to in the kitchen. Cooper brought down the bowl of cereal Adam had made all by himself. He poured the cereal in and the milk! That's why we call him survivor. If he were left to his own devices I have no doubt he would be just fine for a while. What are we going to do with the Chunckers?
Caleb hurt himself yesterday and I was asking him what happened. Lauren was standing right next to him and she said he had cried. Then she said "we should only cry if we're dying." Apparently I have made my point when telling the kids that unless somebody is severly bleeding or dying, "I don't want to hear it!"
There's no real flow to this blog, I know. These are just a few things I wanted to write down before I forgot.
I'm going to Utah Thursday!!! I wish I were going somewhere warmer, but I will get to see Yvonne and Claudia. I'm excited to see them and get a little break. I need it!!!
That's all for now.

Feeling Grateful
So I started reading another blog that Melanie told me about. I couldn't sleep last night so I began reading it. It's written by a mom who lost her baby girl in a drowning accident. Of course I was bawling. So, so sad. She's LDS and she had great insight into the gospel and how it helped her cope with her loss. She's gained a new appreciation for her other 3 girls and 1 boy. She mentioned in one of her blog entries that she has learned to see them like her daughter and Heavenly Father sees them. She also mentioned how she likes getting feedback from readers on how her blog has helped them appreciate their kids more. So in light of that, I am going to list what I love about each of my kids.
Cooper. Super Cooper. I love that...
he's my oldest
he has my curly hair
he gets such good grades
he teases me-sometimes it's a bit too much, but none the less, I love it
he is very responsible
he likes a lot of different foods
he will make cookies and brownies
he is a great help around the house
he likes baseball
Audry Paudry. I love that...
she was my 1st girl
she also gets awesome grades
she is in the gifted program at school (I have to brag!)
she thinks I'm a great decorator (don't know about that though)
she is great with the kids
she has a great time walking to and from school with her friend Drew
she's showing an interest in gardening
her skinny arms and legs
she sneaks treats when she thinks I don't know
Caleb. The Bear. I love that...
he is such a jokester
he surprised us when he was born. He was supposed to be a girl and he came 4 weeks early!
he will give me a hug and kiss out of the blue
he has a cute laugh
he is my "whitest" baby
he is learning to read
he teases
Lauren. Princess. I love that...
she is so girly
she loves shoes and clothes
she loves babies
she likes having her hair done pretty
she looks so cute with pigtails
she is a daddy's girl
she is my mini-me
she has blue eyes
Adam. Chunckers. I love that...
he was our "big surprise"
he is so energetic
he can say "I love you" now
his chuncky thighs
he wipes his slobber off my face after he's given me a kiss (with a clammy, chuncky hand, but a sweet hand!)
he likes to play peek-a-boo
he loves to have books read to him
he loves his siblings
he loves food
So that's my list for today.

Spicy and Everything Nice!
Lauren has been wearing dresses a lot lately. She has dress up ones, but she has been putting on her church dresses. She loves feeling like a princess. She wears her dress up shoes she got for Christmas. That's all she wears lately! It's pretty cute. She's also been obsessed with "The Wizard of Oz" She wants to watch it every day. I told her maybe she could be Dorothy for Halloween. Nope. She wants to be a princess. Go figure.
Craig and I went out to dinner tonight. We were going to go to an Asian style restaurant, but then I found an Indian restaurant that looked pretty good. What a great choice that was!!! It was so dang good. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. And I've never had Indian food before. It was so spicy. Not just spicy like you may have experienced before. This was tears, sweat dripping down Craig's face spicy. It was so good though. We will definately be going back. We had no idea what to order so we just asked the waiter which I'm pretty sure was the owner. He made awesome choices for us. We had lamb and chicken that were so well seasoned and tender. I LOVE food that rich and spicy. I am so glad I married somebody that's willing to try new foods with me. I read a little about the greeting "Amaste" from the menu. I'm glad I could learn a tiny bit of the Indian culture. I am fascinated with other cultures and what they eat, how they live. I'm so looking forward to traveling with Craig and experiencing more of this.

Another great, sunny day!
The sun was out again too! It's so great to feel the benefits of the sun on my face! I love it, I miss it when it's not out.
When Melanie was here Lauren said she was a "Princess Mom" I asked what I was: "Just a mom!" I guess I can deal with that. I've never been much into pink or girly things.
On our way into town this morning to pick up Craig's car Lauren kept asking question after question. She seems to ask a lot of the same ones too. "Why did you stop?" (When we're in the car). Why is the light red? Why are we going this way? What's that sound? Do I have dance today? She sings a lot too. Her favorite: "Twinkle Little Star" Over and over and over and over again. Or sometimes she just makes noises, over and over. So today I must admit I finally said maybe we could just just have it quiet. She said: "Let's have a quiet party!" Just what I wanted to hear. So with all the questions and talking, Adam is following in her footsteps. He sings the same song over and over. He makes noises constantly. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. It's cute...sometimes. Most of the time! :) I would rather have their noises and questions than Cooper's arguing, complaining and talking back!
Can I just say how much I love Chuckers (that's Adam's nickname because he's so huge) thighs? He's got massive, squishy, soft thighs that I always want to take a bite of! His cheeks, face and bottom, are always getting squeezed. His kisses are so wet and slobbery. I love it!! I think I'm really appreciating these things about him because he's growing up so fast. I was holding Melanie's baby today and he was so sweet sleeping in my arms. Made me realize how fast they grow up. Adam will be 2 in April! I'm really liking the stage he's in. Such a sweetie!!!!

A GREAT DAY!
My friend Melanie Minster came over and we worked on a craft together. It's a picture display that says: "My Greatest Blessings Call Me Mom" It's so cute. We were talking about possibly making some money from making some sort of craft. it would be nice to have a little extra spending money. We'll see how it goes.
I gave ALL the kids hair cuts today. Adam was first. He was horrible. Squirmed and kicked and cried, but he looks so dang cute now. I gave him a buzz cut, which looks pretty good on him. I tried bribing him with a lollipop but he just got hair all over it. Then I cut Lauren's hair. I just gave her a trim. She just looks so cute with long hair. She said she didn't want a short man hair cut. Then Cooper wanted his cut. He has wanted his hair longer now. I stopped having his hair cut the way I thought looked good. My mom was pretty controlling when it came to how my hair was cut, so I am not doing that with Cooper. He has curly hair and I would style it differently, but it's his hair and it's his choice. He's still cute to me. Then I had to trim a little bit of Caleb's hair. He again expressed his feelings towards having me cut his hair. Tonight though, he said how he liked going to Frankie's ( a place here in town) because they have toys to play with. Those nasty, disgusting, filthy, covered with hair, germ infested toys!!! Gross :p
Caleb and I took some poppy seed bread to our neighbor that had been giving him rides while the car was getting fixed. He looked up and said the stars were out. It was pretty clear out and good to look up and see that. I am ready for Spring to get here so I can maybe stay outside and enjoy the WARM, fresh air.

So much for keeping a blog!
The kids went back to school today after a loooong weekend. They had Thursday, Friday and Monday off. It was a good break for them.
Thursday night I went to Caleb's parent/teacher conference. I was pretty worried about it because here the teachers only want to meet for a 2nd conference if there's anything they're concerned about. But Mrs. Atkinson assured me that he was right where he should be academically and just needs to focus a little more. If you ask him what his favorite thing about school is, he'll say recess. His least favorite thing...the work he has to do in class. He's very social. More social than Craig or me and more than Cooper or Audry. A few days ago he announced that "This family needs to get rich!" He apparently doesn't like getting his hair cut at home. He'd much rather get it done at the barber's and get a lollipop! I've started cutting the kids hair in an attempt to save some money. It's not a big hit with him.
We have been having a bit of a hard time with Cooper lately. He teases his siblings like crazy. He doesn't stop until they are in tears. He has also started rolling his eyes and arguing quite a bit. He's 12, so I'm guessing it's hormones. Or it could be me coming back to haunt myself as a 12 year old pre-pubescent boy! Ha!! I guess this is what I get for being such a moody teenager. He's really a great kid overall though. He's very responsible, gets great grades and pretty dang handsome!
Audry is still as scrawny as ever. Sometimes we call her muscles just to tease her. She and Adam have gotten really close. He loves playing with her and she does a great job entertaining him. She's doing great in school. She got a hamster for Christmas. I can't remember what she named him. It was pepperoni, but then changed it because she said she couldn't eat pizza with pepperoni on it now! She's growing up so fast. She's not a little girl any more.
Lauren is such a little princess. She's taking dance class and loves it. She calls all the girl in her class ballerinas. Anything that's girly or pink she loves. And can that girl shop!! That could be a BIG problem as she gets older. I think she gets bored at home when the kids are gone. I was thinking about putting her in pre-school next year but it costs $150. I think I will work with her at home.
Adam is such a funny little guy. He's really starting to talk and he sounds so cute. He repeats everything he hears. Lately he's been a real stinker in the evenings. He runs around screaming, laughing and attacking people. We were at Darren's Sunday night and he was in prime form. Getting into one thing after another. All night.
I'm just keeping busy with the kids. None of them are playing any sports right now but they're coming. Caleb will play soccer soon and Cooper will start baseball this spring. My calling isn't too time consuming which is kind of nice. Craig just called as the High Priest group leader. He's only had the calling a little while but it's already proving to be a time consuming calling. I'm sure we will receive more blessing than we can count.
I'm off to watch more Olympics now! Go USA!!!
Craig's car started stalling yesterday on his way to work. So it's in the shop tight now and he's driving the van. Not such a big inconvenience since I'm not going out much. It does stink that we have to charge the repairs on the credit card. But, on the positive side... We have good credit that allows us to have a credit card and we can pay it off next month. I think about many that don't have the means to fix their car and it makes me grateful that we have 2 cars and the means to get them fixed when needed.
The Olympics started this past Friday. I just LOVE the Olympics. I even get so cheesy and teary eyed when the athletes get choked up on the stand. I know...lame! It makes me wish I had just an ounce of athleticism. I will have to keep searching for my many hidden talents! ;)
I have been reading Stephanie Nielson's blog. If any of you haven't heard of her, here's a little bit of her story. She's an LDS mom that survived a horrific plane crash taht burned over 80% of her body. Before the accident she had an awesome blog. She mostly blogged about what was happening in her family and the joys of motherhood. She's back to blogging and I'm amazed at her positive attitude. She inspires me to be a better spouse, mom and woman. I have her button on my page if you want to check her out. I highly recommend it!!!
